Before you go shopping, make a list of foods. This is the best way to avoid temptations and stick to your diet. With proper planning, you can eat healthy and save hundreds of dollars a month. Have you ever thought how much you’re spending on chocolate bars, cookies, latte and other daily treats?
Your shopping list should only include those foods that fit your diet. Of course, you can buy a few products that your family loves, but it’s better to stick to the basics. Lean meat, fruits, veggies, nuts, dairy products, eggs, and herbs should be on your list.

Fill your shopping basket with whole, natural foods. Any product containing more than five ingredients it’s probably loaded with chemicals.
Buy whole fruit and vegetables rather than juices. Whole fruit and veggies contain more fibre and nutrients. They also keep you full longer. If you have a sweet tooth, buy sugar free snack bars and cereal bars. Look for those that are sweetened with stevia. Aim for more than 50 percent of these ingredients: nuts, seeds, fruits, or whole grains.
Non-starchy, low calories vegetables are a dieter’s best friend. If you want to lose weight, buy cucumbers, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, asparagus, lettuce, and celery. Citrus fruit is a great choice too. Remember that most fruits are packed with sugar. Oranges, kiwi, grapefruit, avocado, coconut, berries, and lemons are your best bet. If you buy canned or frozen fruit, make sure they don’t have extra sugar added.
