People who eat large amounts of sugar are more likely to develop leptin resistance, obesity, memory deficiencies, and liver problems. Alcohol and sugar have similar toxic liver effects on the body. Eating too much sugar leads to insulin resistance, which stimulates cancer cell growth and may also affect cancer survival. Recent studies have found that sugar intake causes visceral fat cells to mature. In other words, it promotes belly fat.
High-sugar meals put your brain in a food coma, causing mood swings, depression, fatigue, and lack of energy. Eating too much sugar can lead to a quick insulin rise followed by sudden crashes. Over time, this leads to diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
